Navruz is the first day of spring,
When nature rejoices and sparrows sing.
Navruz is international holiday. In Tajikistan Navruz holds an important place among the other holiday in a year. We celebrate Navruz on 21 till 24 of march. It is tajik New Year and Navruz means “new day” .
On Navruz majority of people wear colourful and new clothes, especially women and girls wear dresses like “atlas, adras and chakan”.
Special foods and sweets are prepared. Women prepare a paste by cooking “sumalak” and porridge from sprouted wheat. Also they bake tasty cookies aand lay beautiful dastarkhan with seven “sin” and seven “shin”.
Beside the our country Navruz is celebrated widely and colourfully in Iran, Turkmenistan,Uzbekistan,Kyrgyzstan, Afghanistan and another countries.
